Tax-Smart Ways to Support KCA
Make Your Generosity Go Further
Supporting the Kaua‘i Concert Association can be more than a traditional donation.
As a qualified nonprofit organization [501(c)(3)], KCA can receive several forms of charitable giving, offering individuals and families with retirement accounts, investment portfolios, Donor-Advised Funds, and other charitable assets strategic ways to support KCA — their exceptional live performances, music education, and the future of the arts on Kaua‘i — while incorporating philanthropy into their broader financial, tax, and legacy planning.
Ways to Give
New for the 2026 Tax Year
- You can now receive a tax benefit for qualifying charitable giving—even if you don’t itemize your deductions.
Beginning with the 2026 tax year, taxpayers can claim a deduction for qualifying cash contributions made to eligible nonprofit organizations even when taking the standard deduction instead of itemizing.
- Individuals: Deduct up to $1,000 in qualifying cash contributions
- Married couples filing jointly: Deduct up to $2,000 in qualifying cash contributions
This means more taxpayers can receive a charitable tax deduction while supporting qualified nonprofit organizations like KCA.
- Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) (New for Tax Year 2026)
Recommend a grant to KCA from funds you’ve already designated for charitable giving.

Continuing Ways to Donate
- IRA / Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
Eligible IRA owners age 70½ or older can make a charitable distribution directly from an IRA to KCA. QCDs will help satisfy Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), when applicable, and reduce the amount reported as income. KCA has previously highlighted QCDs as a tax-smart way to support the organization.
- Appreciated Securities
Donate appreciated stocks or other securities directly to KCA and avoid capital gains tax that would apply if you sold the investment first.
- Planned & Estate Giving
Consider including KCA as part of your longer-term charitable and estate planning.
- Cash donations are always welcome!
If you donate, you can donate to the general fund or to one of the following specialized funds: The Kauai Music Fund, the Education Fund, The W.S. “Pete” Robinson Memorial Jazz Fund. If you email us, we’ll earmark it as you request.
Ready to Explore Your Giving Options?
Whether you are considering a grant from a Donor-Advised Fund, a Qualified Charitable Distribution, appreciated securities, or a future planned gift, KCA can provide the information you or your financial advisor may need to complete your contribution.
