Planning Your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)?

A Qualified Charitable Distribution will allow you to direct some or all of an eligible RMD toward supporting KCA. A donation will help satisfy your RMD, and that portion will not be reported as income, reducing taxable income associated with the distribution.

To make a QCD, contact your investment advisor or IRA custodian to initiate the process and have your charitable contribution sent directly to KCA.

📊 See how a QCD can lower your taxable income in our sample tax scenario below:

Sample Tax Scenario* Option 1: Take RMD income and donate cash Option 2: Tax-smart approach – make a QCD & satisfy RMD
Adjusted gross income $122,683 $80,000
Charitable gift $42,683 (cash) $42,683 (QCD)
Itemized or standard deduction $42,683 itemized deduction $17,000 standard deduction
Estimated Federal taxable income $80,000 $63,000

*In this scenario, using a QCD lowers taxable income by $17,000.
